November 26, 2008 press release that Beckett Grading Services will begin grading Star Co. basketball cards on December 1, 2008. Please note that despite how one might interpret the press release, Steve Taft only trained Beckett graders with respect to authentication and does not authenticate or grade for Beckett. In addition, the Schonco Collection was not graded at one time before its release and, at some point, the Schonco Sports label was no longer put on the back of the BGS case identifying it.

A well written March 15, 2015 article from an objective and renowned source, Sports Collectors Daily, also reported the sale and entitled the #101 as a rookie and in the first sentence as a "true rookie card":

An article about Star Co. sets, although we must note that Isiah Thomas' first card was 1983 All-Star Game #11, not 1983-84 #94 XRC/TRC, and a bag being sealed does not mean that the cards inside are in mint condition:

A May 14, 1998 article which shows that Michael Jordan was instrumental in making basketball cards popular:

A May 4, 1990 Chicago Tribune article interviewing Star Co. owner, Robert Levin. The article shows that because values of Star Co. cards had increased, Levin was being accused of reprinting cards even though he had not:

Articles with false propaganda and/or inaccurate information:

PSA's top 10 list of all-time basketball cards does not include one Star Co. card, excluding the 1984-85 Star #101 Jordan, and is likely a biased, non-objective view that was released shortly after Beckett graded the first BGS 9.5 #101:

Cardboardconnection is filled with much incorrect information about these cards. Here is one example:

A November 7, 2014 article claiming that Chris Ivy of Heritage stated that basketball cards were not manufactured between Topps exiting the market in 1981 and Fleer entering it in 1986 when Heritage was trying to sell a 1986 Fleer #57 Michael Jordan BGS 10. This is an odd comment since Heritage has sold Star Co. basketball cards:

The incorrect statement that there are reprints of the Star Co. cards from the mid-1990's that cannot be distinguished from originals:

http://www.awesome80s.com/Awesome80s/Sports/Memorabilia/Cards/Basketball/1983/

Blog post that recognizes the Star Co. cards as the "true rookie cards", but then confused what the Shop at Home scandal was and claims the "fantasy issue cards" were reprints:

VCP is not obligated to track Star Co. basketball sales, but it certainly spreads false rumors without any basis as to why it does not track them:
